Please stay tuned to the City's official Emergency Operations Center web site. The press release page will keep you informed about open businesses, power/water restoration progress, when it is safe to return home, etc.

RE: IKE aftermath: Power, water, returning home, etc.

Hi everyone. I hope y'all are hanging in there as best you can.

Things up here in Montgomery are getting back to normal. We have most gas stations up and running. Grocery stores are open but mostly only from 6 to 6 as employees without power must get home in day light to sort out family issues. Sam's club doesn't have a spec of food but Kroger and HEB are getting daily deliveries from Dallas. I understand that they emptied out the perishables and sent them to shelters for immediate use. I sure hope so.

Out high school has become host to about 2 thousand crews, and 1 thousand more at the other school down the road, working to clear lines and restore power. It is an amazing sight to see. The trucks go rolling down the road by the hundreds. Those guys are from all over the country and I've talked with a couple of them. They are really doing an excellent job here and hopefully are able to get in down closer to y'all and get more power on.

At first we were told no school for 4 to 6 weeks and now are told Monday we will start back up again. Hopefully that is the case.

If anyone down ehre is in need of ANYTHING I can help with, please let me know and I will be most happy to try my best.

God bless and take care and hang in there. This too will come to an end. Be patient and safe.
Annie
