well someone told me if i am going to get a kitten, then i need to get two. they said they dont scratch up furniture so bad if you have two. anyone know if theres truth to that? i have no problem getting two, our home is big enough for 2 cats. And how does the whole kitty litter thing work? do they know to "go" in automatically or what? Never had cats before, my dad didn't like 'em. so now that i have a family and home of my own now, figure i'd get the cat i always wanted too!

From my experience two cats are better than just one. They entertain each other. Also females are much sweeter. We have a male cat that just likes to create havic. When you first get your kitty show them the litter box, put them in it and take their little paws and scratch the litter and just leave them. They will get out and will find their way back on their own. Pretty smart little guys. You might want to show them right after they eat or drink. ALWAYS keep the little box clean of anything they do. Buy a scooper and clean it out daily and change the litter weekly. As far as what kind, that's another story. Get a named brand. Scoopable Littler is the best.
