RSS feed, the school board members and superintendent are not that close to the students. They are a more of a governing body. The present superintendent, Barbara Sultis, and several of the board members have been in office for too long and lost touch with the students.

Next time they are up for election, we need to elect new members to the school board and get some new blood and vitality. Last time they were up for election, nobody ran against some of the members. Let's find somebody to at least give us a choice at the polls.
Dr. Sultis does a lot of things to keep in touch with kids. Anytime they are in the paper she clips the articles and sends them to the individual students with a personalized handwritten note. I have seen her at MANY functions at RSS.

I think many people do not understand what her job really entails. She is constantly in meetings to keep up with her endless list of duties. You can't expect her to be as close to the students as say...teachers. That is impossible. There are thousands of children in this district. Success is a collaborative effort. We ALL have to do our best for our children. I will tell you this right now...Dr. Sultis truly loves children and she works her tail off.

IMHO parents are the ones out of touch with their children. If some of these deadbeat parents would do their jobs at home it would make everyone else's job at school and in the district a lot easier. I'm not saying all parents are to blame but there are enough. If you want Dr. Sultis to be accountable you best make sure you are being accountable for what goes on at the house.

How many people who b and moan about the school board actually vote? It should tell you something about community activism if there is no competition. That is pretty sad.

The community needs to look at themselves and not make Dr. Sultis the scapegoat for the fact that many in Baytown don't want to admit it's not the same place it was 20+ years ago.
