Does the city of Baytown own a Street Paint Stripping Truck? If so why don't they ever use it? Will it take a special bond issue to buy paint?

I feel sure the rest of you have noticed when it is dark and more so when our streets are wet that it is near impossible the see the center strips and turn lanes on our streets. I follow the car in front of me hoping that they can see where the lanes are. Before you ask I'm not blind.

Maybe some of our streets/roads are maintained by the State?

Anyone have any answers?

Thanks,
TSG

P.S. I have named no names so this post should be safe to post. lol
I'm pretty sure the city takes care of the stripes, but man you aren't kidding about how poorly they are kept up. I had to drive to Clear Lake a lot a while back, and coming back at night on 146/N Alexander from the bridge to TX Ave was terrible, especially when it rained. And I was usually one of the only people on the road, so I normally didn't even have a car to follow. Some of the inner streets aren't any better.

By the way, if you don't mind me asking, what does your username mean? I thought it was Threes Tent Guy until I saw you sign TSG. Not that I know what a Threes Tent Guy is anyway lol.
I'll take a guess... a stent is a tube type device used to keep an artery open. It's a relatively minor operation, especially considering the alternatives. So, I'd guess he's had 3 of these, hence Three Stent Guy.
Ah, I've heard of stents before. Just didn't register. I bet you're right, txna.
Yep three stents in my heart. Very small spring like devices placed in an artery to push back the plaque to keep the artery open. Once the stent is placed in the thickened artery a balloon is inserted to open the stent and once the balloon is removed hopefully the stent stays open. No fun at all. Yes the plaque is blamed on smoking.

Funny story. Maybe? I asked the "experts" at Methodist, Houston one day if an artery from a dead guy had ever been dissected and analyzed for content. They paused and said not that they had ever heard of. I then asked how can you know what part is cheeseburger, cheap Bourbon, nicotine/tar and other foul substances. They were not amused. Sorry, probably more than you wanted to know.

Back to the main subject. How do we get our streets re-stripped? Please don't tell me to call city hall or the City Managers office. Need I explain more? Maybe we could all get together, buy or own paint and brushes and do it ourselves. Where do we start?

We could bring beer and jam boxes and have roving, street striping block parties all over town. I'm in.
