This one reminds me of a time in my life that I have very fond memories of. It was back then I was listening to The Hollies, The Moody Blues, Pink Floyd, The Doors, ELO, Supertramp and a lot of other groovy bands. I spent many nights with the lights down low, a glass of bourbon and coke in my hand, and tunes like "Nights in White Satin" and Floyd's "Wish You Were Here" feeding my soul.

Originally recorded by Phil Everly of the Everly Brothers, The Hollies had the major hit version of "The Air that I Breathe" in 1974, taking it to #2 on the UK charts and #6 on the US charts. The song was engeered by Alan Parsons of The Alan Parsons Project who, incidentally, also produced and was a major contributor to Pink Floyd's classic, "The Dark Side of the Moon." Small world, eh?

Without further ado, here is The Hollies with "The Air that I Breathe."

Lyrics

If I could make a wish
I think Id pass
Cant think of anything I need
No cigarettes, no sleep, no light, no sound
Nothing to eat, no books to read

Making love with you
Has left me peaceful, warm, and tired
What more could I ask
Theres nothing left to be desired
Peace came upon me and it leaves me weak
So sleep, silent angel, go to sleep

Sometimes, all I need is the air that I breathe
And to love you
All I need is the air that I breathe
Yes to love you
All I need is the air that I breathe

Peace came upon me and it leaves me weak
So sleep, silent angel, go to sleep

Sometimes, all I need is the air that I breathe
And to love you
All I need is the air that I breathe
Yes to love you
All I need is the air that I breathe

Sometimes, all I need is the air that I breathe
And to love you
All I need is the air that I breathe
Yes to love you
All I need is the air that I breathe
And to love you
All I need is the air that I breathe
Yes to love you
Groovy??? uh... you do go WAY back. Maaannn... that's like, started the middle 60's, dude. Ya know, even before "far out" came into existence.

But you know what they say... if you remember those times, you didn't really live then.
Of course, now it may only mean the mind is getting more forgetful.

And YES... it is a small world! My sister dated Alan Parsons' brother, Dean Parsons. Then my daughter was in band in Junior High (Pasadena) and Dean was her band teacher. The shock on my sister's face when she found out... just wish I had a camera.

I'm afraid you got me. I'm actually in my mid 30's hehe. My father was a radio DJ in the 60's and had an incredible vinyl collection that I inherited. Instead of listening to Disney stuff when I was a kid, I was playing The Four Seasons, The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, The Searchers, Eric Burton and the Animals, etc. Then I got into radio myself when I was in high school and DJ'd at a couple of radio stations. I've always had a great love for a wide variety of music and I'm especially fond of the 60's, 70's and 80's.

That's so awesome about you guys knowing Dean Parsons. I bet he was one hell of a band teacher. Smile
