I guess if you going to hire a road crew, lets keep it in the family ties of the city council. You know those fresh paved concrete roads that make a bad vehicle feel new, well that's what it looks like from Kilgore and Ward to Cedar Bayou.

Not the case though. I ran down that way many times this weekend and it's a little bumpy. Hard to find that possible being gravity should let fresh concrete mud if it met the slump test lay out flat as if you made jello in you own ice box.

I couldn't imagine a 1/2 arse job meeting strict civil codes of the city. Anyway it's better than it was and wouldn't expect repairs for a few years or so.

haha...I'd bet that city council ok'd a 1/2 arse job hoping to pocket the other 1/2 and pad their OWN arses. Plus, there must have been a sale on cheap crete. I agree with you though. There was a Garth Rd leveling project a few months back to get some of the dips out of the road. You can tell EXACTLY where the dips WERE because they are still THERE...only now they're made of new crete. Also, the million dollar red light synchronization on Garth Rd was a 1/2 arse job. Hell, me and a couple of buds could have done the same 1/2 arse job for HALF a mill.

Concrete is cheaper, lasts longer and wears out tires quicker.
It cracks easily in heat and cold too.
But it can save compared to the cost of tar so 'kickback' sounds good to me.

Geez...I don't know but most road work is traditionally given to the lowest bidder and the work is monitored by city or state inspectors. The roads that I knew were done by the Angel Brothers were seriously deficient. They obviously cut the cost by not surveying the elevation of their work.

Glad I no longer pay city taxes in Baytown since they are some of the highest in the state and they do not use your money judiciously. Additionally, I graduated with Greg Angel and at our 10 year reunion he was standing at the bar with his arm positioned so everyone could see his Rolex. Money buys a lot of things but class and ethics cannot be purchased.

Professionalism is not an Angel Brothers forte.
