Does anybody know a good place ot get some good, authentic tamales by the dozen? I would imagine one of these taco stands in town has good ones, but I haven't tried any yet. I tried C&D's the other day, and although I love their tacos and barbacoa, I wasn't impressed by the tamales. Any suggestions?
The best tamales I have ever tried are from these women that sell them outside of the gas station on the corner of James and Alexander. They only sell them on thursday and friday starting around 5 in the afternoon, but they are worth waiting for! I'm hispanic so I tend to be very pick as to true, authentic mexican food, and these tamales are the best I have ever ate! They sell them out of a cooler, a dozen for $6 the last time I bought them, but they go very fast!

I was beginning to wonder if anyone would ever reply! Thanks Mona, I'm going to give these a try this week. They're right down the street from my house!

I'm always a little afraid of buying from someone I don't know. Who knows what they put in them, or how sanitary their kitchen is.
The lady who cleans my house makes some wonderful tamales. I've been to her house and she's very clean and an excellent cook. If you email me I'll give you her number.

Thanks for the tip, Mona! My daughter and I picked up some tamales from those girls Friday and they are fantastic. I'm going to be a regular customer from now on.
