I cannot believe what I am reading.

George was banned for name-calling, derogatory remarks, and let's not deny it, for being an atheist.

That was made evident when "Christians" exihibited the same behavior yet the same consequence did not follow suit.

The "contract" that Dorian requires new members to agree to before registration clearly states that NO ONE may defame or insult ANYONE. It does NOT say that depending on who or what views are popular on the board some people may break that rule with immunity.

Davo and Gabby took it further when they insulted Bob's intelligence and sexual preference. Why are they not removed? That, according to Dorian's "contract," is unacceptable.

Dorian, if you allow them to stay after breaking the rules themselves you are acting hypocritically and have lost all credibility. Perhaps you got your feathers ruffled that Bob had the nerve to call your actions as he saw them...cowardly.

I have lifted the ban on G's account and posted some new, more specific guidelines that I hope everyone will follow. The posting of slander, name calling, hurtful remarks, etc will now result in a temporary banning. This will apply to everyone, not just the Atheists.

All that is asked and to be expected is that everyone present their ideas and opinions in a curteous and civil manner.

well, you're not going to be able to make everyone happy no matter what decision you make. i for one, would hate to be in your shoes. you ban G, and half the people are happy and half are upset. you lift the ban, and now half the people are happy and half are upset. it's a no win situation. i think the best thing that could be done, is try and do what you feel is fair. i read the posts and have to say that i don't recall G ever name calling. i did read several posts from others that did name call. however, even though G never called anyone names, he seemed to attack anyone who said anything about God. like he was on a mission. it's one thing to make a remark and post your opinion, it's another to seek out every single post by anyone who says anything about God and try and discredit everything they say. especially once you've realized you have offended someone. now your purpose has become soley to aggitate and create hostility. i'm not saying one side was worse than the other. calling people names is way out of line as well. i did it myself, to Bob Loblaw this morning, and for that I sincerely apologize to Bob, G, Dorian Gray, and anyone else that I may have offended. I think your only option was clear. ban everyone, or ban no one. i hope this whole situation has shown everyone how easy it is to let your emotions control your actions and everyone can be a little more civil. i know i will.

Gray, since you are IT related, can you see us with web cams honestly? You and I know it can be done. ????????
