The City of Baytown has contracted with American Traffic Solutions (ATS), to manage the red-light camera installation and operations. ATS has reported that construction and installation of the remaining nine red-light camera installations are ahead of schedule. The remaining cameras are anticipated to be functioning and begin their warning period on July 13, 2008, over a week earlier than originally expected. All nine locations will come on-line at the same time and the warning period will be effective for 30 calendar days. If the cameras begin operation as planned the warning citations will be replaced with actual citations on August 11, 2008.
The nine intersections currently under construction are as follows;
Highway 146 southbound at North Alexander Drive, West Baker Road eastbound at Decker Drive, Garth Road southbound at Highway 146, Garth Road northbound at Interstate 10 Garth Road southbound at Interstate 10, Garth Road southbound at West Baker Road, West Baker Road eastbound at Garth Road, West Baker Road westbound, Business 146 southbound at Wyoming Street and North Alexander Drive northbound at Highway 146.
As a correction to the Baytown Sun article on June 3, 2008, the red-light camera installations at Garth and Baker Roads will not revert to a warning period but will continue issuing traffic citations to violators. Only the nine new camera installations as listed above will have a 30 day warning period.
