My daughter is 3 1/2 and yesterday she came home from the babysitter's with a really high fever, just burning up (103.5 at one point). We gave her some Motrin and immediately put her in a cool bath. We got the fever down and monitored her and gave her medicine throughout the night. Once we got the inital fever down it seemed to stay down. Her temp returned to normal and this morning she seemed to be fine.

She hasn't had a stomach ache, no infections of any kind, no complaining of an earache, no coughing, no runny nose, just a high fever. However, she does have a tooth coming in, and quite early I might add. I didn't think she should be getting any new teeth until she's about 5, but apparently she has a molar coming in. She's had high fevers in the past when new teeth were coming in, so that might be what was going on. But I've also heard of a few other kids recently having fevers and complaining of not feeling well.

Does anyone know if there is a bug going around? Or has anyone else had children who ran really high fevers when they were teething?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
I haven't heard of any bugs, 8ball, but my daughter did run pretty high fevers when she teethed. Wow, getting a back molar at 3 is unusual. Or at least I think so. I'm like you and had always heard they don't come in until about 5 or 6. Let me know what the outcome is.
8 Ball my grandson (who just turned 2) has had what the doctors would call FUO. A Fever of Unknown Origion. He's fine during the day, but has had a 103.3 temp in the afternoons. Crying, clingy etc. but no tummyache or anything. Tylenol brings it down, and then he's fine, eats supper, plays, no other problems. He too is cutting a tooth, his 2yr molar. This has gone on for 2 days, if he does it this afternoon mom will take him into the Dr. . Hopefully he won't.
How has your little girl been these last couple of days?
there is a stomache virus going around with vomitting but no fever.
the fever is more than likely from the teething all of my 4 children were different when it came to that.

Sounds kinda similar. She had a bit of a fever yesterday after coming home from the sitter's. Not as bad as the day before, just a touch of fever. But like your grandson, she had been fine all day and then the fever started around 5ish. Of course today she is fine again. Maybe she's got a FUO too...

I don't know, but he's been fine all this weekend. No problems since Thursday. (thank goodness) I suppose it can be attributed to the teeth. My kids had fever when teething, but it never got that high. And he's never had that high of fever before with is teeth, but with kids it's always changing. We're just happy he seems to be doing fine now. He's back to his busy self. I hope your daughter is too.
