My daughter is 3 1/2 and yesterday she came home from the babysitter's with a really high fever, just burning up (103.5 at one point). We gave her some Motrin and immediately put her in a cool bath. We got the fever down and monitored her and gave her medicine throughout the night. Once we got the inital fever down it seemed to stay down. Her temp returned to normal and this morning she seemed to be fine.
She hasn't had a stomach ache, no infections of any kind, no complaining of an earache, no coughing, no runny nose, just a high fever. However, she does have a tooth coming in, and quite early I might add. I didn't think she should be getting any new teeth until she's about 5, but apparently she has a molar coming in. She's had high fevers in the past when new teeth were coming in, so that might be what was going on. But I've also heard of a few other kids recently having fevers and complaining of not feeling well.
Does anyone know if there is a bug going around? Or has anyone else had children who ran really high fevers when they were teething?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
